The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Game Pass was supposed to be a huge boost for the game’s multiplayer community. Unfortunately, it has led to a massive surge in cheaters, as reported by multiple media outlets, including Call of Duty expert CharlieIntel.
These hacks are often used by players on PC, but those playing through Xbox Game Pass on PC appear as Xbox players in multiplayer lobbies. The official Call of Duty Updates account on X (formerly Twitter) acknowledged the issue and confirmed that a fix has been implemented.
“Ricochet Anti-Cheat resolved an issue with the detection system over the weekend, leading to a spike in cheater reports.”
These Cheats Have Been Around for Decades, but Modern Warfare 3 Took the Hit This Weekend
According to the update, the anti-cheat system is now “capable of detecting the specific platform for all users, no matter how they appear in the game.”
However, players seem to disagree that the issue has been resolved, as indicated by the feedback on the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 subreddit.
Players use hacks to gain an advantage in the game, such as aimbots and wall hacks. Aimbots give players superhuman aiming abilities, while wall hacks allow them to see through walls to spot other players.
