Rockstar Games is back in the headlines with a major leak. This time, they accidentally revealed files related to GTA 6 and the PC port of Red Dead Redemption. This mishap happened during a GTA V update on PC, as well as the Rockstar Games launcher, spilling some much-anticipated information.

Last May, Rockstar had already stirred disappointment by releasing Red Dead Redemption on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch without a PC edition. However, this recent leak might finally confirm the arrival of the long-awaited PC version, while also shedding light on GTA 6.

Leaked GTA 6 and Red Dead Redemption Files

The files came to light during a recent GTA V PC update, which included a new anti-cheat tool called BattlEye. However, this update mistakenly included extra files: one folder named Project Americas (a codename for GTA 6) and another named Red Dead Redemption. These revelations were quickly discovered by the community and shared across social media.

Tez2, a well-known Rockstar insider, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that these files were not meant to be accessible. He also pointed out that this wasn’t the first instance of Red Dead Redemption PC leaks, recalling a similar incident when PlayStation accidentally included a mention of the PC version in legal info.

What the Leaks Mean for GTA and Red Dead Fans

Although Rockstar quickly removed these files from the official launcher, they remain visible to some Steam users. This suggests that these leaks could herald an official announcement for the Red Dead Redemption PC port, along with additional info on the highly anticipated GTA 6.
