Get Ready for a Sleeker Call of Duty Experience with the Black Ops 6 Beta Announcement!
Exciting news for Call of Duty fans! Activision has just announced a major change coming to the franchise with the beta launch of Black Ops 6. By separating Warzone from the main Call of Duty titles and optimizing file sizes, they’re aiming to enhance the Call of Duty HQ experience.
Since 2022, gamers have been grappling with the ever-increasing file sizes required to play Call of Duty, especially as all new titles incorporated Warzone through the Call of Duty HQ launcher. Each update seemed to balloon the space taken up on hard drives and SSDs, making storage management a challenge. Thankfully, this is set to change with a significant update scheduled for August 21, coinciding with the Season 5 Reloaded launch of Modern Warfare 3.
Optimized Storage and New Tech for Call of Duty HQ
In this update, Call of Duty will separate the download of Warzone from its main titles. Players will now have the option to download Warzone at the initial install or add it later. Additionally, a new texture streaming technology will be introduced. This technology will reduce file sizes even further by not storing textures locally. Players will have two streaming options: “Optimized” (default) for the best quality, or “Minimal” to reduce texture quality and bandwidth usage.
- File Reorganization: For better storage management.
- Separate Warzone Download: Optional Warzone download, independent of annual titles.
- Texture Streaming: New options to save disk space.
These improvements will require an initial sizable download. According to the Call of Duty team, this download is essential to set the stage for a better user experience, especially with the upcoming release of Black Ops 6. Once the file reorganization is completed, the total size of Call of Duty on your devices will be significantly reduced.
PlayStation 5 users will need to complete this update in four separate downloads. The first part will be similar to other regular updates, while the subsequent three parts will initiate when accessing Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Warzone.
