Valorant’s console beta on Xbox, PS4, and PS5 has officially ended. The game is now live on these platforms as of August 2nd at 6 PM. Ranked matches are available right from the get-go, and both PC and console players can compete against each other in cross-platform games.

You can access Valorant today on Xbox, PS4, and PS5 by linking your Riot Games account to your console. This neat feature allows you to retain your Valorant Points purchased on PC when you log into the game. Note that console gaming will be exclusively controller-based. Riot Games had this to say:

Official Valorant X Account

You’ll only be able to play with a controller on console. We want players to feel like their experience is consistent no matter where they play, but we have to ensure it feels like the same game to everyone they face.

The official release of Valorant on consoles took many by surprise, given the relatively short beta period. Its launch coincides with other highly anticipated console FPS titles like Marvel Rivals, FragPunk, and Concord. While Riot’s team is confident, perhaps overly so, technical issues have already been reported within the first hours of the game’s official launch.

A Blue Screen Marred Valorant’s Launch on PS4, PS5, and Xbox

Launch days don’t always go according to plan. Some early players of Valorant’s console version were greeted with a blue screen, completely blocking access to the game.

Riot has yet to provide an official fix, but if you encounter the same issue, it is recommended to update your console and controllers, and to uninstall and reinstall the game. These are typical troubleshooting steps to take while waiting for an official response from Riot.

Beta Players Face Another Hurdle: Rankings Reset

Even though ranked matches are now available on consoles, the rankings have been reset on the console ladder. This means despite your account being linked, your rankings and progress won’t carry over. You’ll need to redo your placements when you start playing the console version. Don’t worry, the PC and console rankings remain separate. Even with cross-platform play, the two ladders will stay independent, so you won’t need to redo your placements on PC.
