Players of The First Descendant can now enjoy new summer outfits! With the arrival of the first major update, a host of changes have been introduced, including two new characters: Luna and Ultimate Valby. While this update has fixed various bugs and stirred a bit of controversy, the real highlight is the release of the highly anticipated summer skins, available until September 25.
This update of The First Descendant brings swimsuit variants for Valby and Viessa, and a summer version with Hawaiian shirts for all male descendants. For the ladies, each set costs 750 Calibers and includes a new hairstyle along with the swimsuit. As for the gents, they share the same outfit for each male Descendant (requiring a separate purchase for each). Priced at 375 Calibers, this outfit consists of only the skin, depicting the chosen male Descendant in an orange Hawaiian shirt and swim shorts. Their heads are unadorned, save for a pair of sunglasses. The boys get an all-in-one pack, while the girls can mix and match their swimsuit with any unlocked hairstyle.
Players’ requests have been heard, and Nexon has added summer-themed skins to The First Descendant. Visit the in-game shop, under the Event Skins section, to purchase these new summer outfits.
Fans Are Loving the Girls’ Swimsuits
As expected, The First Descendant fans are thrilled with these skins. Comments like, “This game is going to drain so many bank accounts” and “Sigh, there goes my money,” are common. Many players wonder why Bunny didn’t get a summer skin first, but a Reddit user named ChaosEvaUnit quickly explained, “She’ll come eventually. Bunny was obviously the poster child for TFD’s launch version and received most launch cosmetics to support that.”
Valby has recently risen to fame, likely replacing Bunny as the fan-favorite Descendant, especially with the release of Ultimate Valby. Offering fans a summer version of Valby is a smart move by the developers to capitalize on her popularity. Viessa is one of the first Descendants you can play with, so it makes sense for the developers to give her some love too.
A Bit of Disappointment for the Guys
Regarding the male variants, reactions are mixed. While sporting a Hawaiian shirt is cool, having the same outfit for each male Descendant seems rather rushed. “It’s a bit sad that the guys all have the same skin while the women have more variety,” one Reddit user remarked, while another posted, “Not only the clothes but the body shape of each one is exactly the same… I get that female skins sell way better than male ones. But I’m really disappointed they’re offering such simple skins for the men at a relatively high price.”
This is just the first batch of summer-themed skins, and more are surely on the way. It would be great if the men got a bit more love during this event.
