Rumor Alert Could Call of Duty 2025 Be Black Ops 7 Plus Modern Warfare 4 Teased for 2026!

Rumors are already swirling about the future of Call of Duty, even though the highly anticipated Black Ops 6 hasn’t hit the shelves yet. According to leaked data, Call of Duty 2025 could actually be Black Ops 7, marking a sooner-than-expected return for this iconic series.

This revelation comes from a well-known dataminer called COD Warfare, who delved into the code of recent Call of Duty games. Following an update to Modern Warfare 3, snippets of code referring to an unannounced title appeared within the Call of Duty HQ app. The code mentions “Cosmodrome,” a fan-favorite location from the Black Ops series, and “mp_sat,” tied to other similar code related to release years.

Black Ops 7 for Call of Duty 2025?

This intel suggests that next year’s release might be a direct sequel to Black Ops 6 rather than just an expansion. COD Warfare reveals that plans for a second year of content for Black Ops 6 have been scrapped in favor of speeding up development for its sequel, a strategy previously seen with the close release dates of Modern Warfare II and III.

Alongside this, codenames “Rex” and “Rap” have also surfaced. It’s heavily speculated that “Rex,” slated for 2026, is being developed by Infinity Ward and could be the much-anticipated Modern Warfare 4. This theory is supported by the recurring use of NATO phonetic alphabet codenames associated with Infinity Ward projects.

It’s worth noting that all this information comes from a recent update, coinciding with previous leaks from the well-known leaker Tom Henderson. Henderson had predicted that Call of Duty 2026 would be handled by Infinity Ward, with 2027 being developed by Sledgehammer Games.
