Deadlock is currently in its early development stage and is receiving new patches. This means access remains extremely limited and can only be obtained by invitation. However, many players report issues with accessing the game even after receiving multiple invitations from different players.

There’s no obvious reason behind this issue. Players on Steam have debated and tried to identify the differences in the affected accounts, but the only commonality is that these accounts received invitations from multiple people. The community is still investigating, but in the meantime, if you’re affected, a solution has been found.

While waiting to gain access to Deadlock on your account, you can use the Steam family sharing feature. The game will work normally, and you can play via this sharing system even if your account doesn’t have direct access. Feel free to join our Deadlock France Discord to coordinate and ensure you only receive an invitation from one person!

Using Steam Family Sharing to Play Deadlock

To activate Steam Family Sharing, you need to:

  1. Log into the Steam account on a computer that has access to Deadlock.
  2. Ensure that Steam Guard is enabled by opening the Steam client and navigating to Steam → Settings → Security.
  3. From the Steam settings panel, go to the “Family” tab.
  4. Check the box “Authorize Library Sharing on this computer.”
  5. Select the users you wish to share your Steam library with and click “OK.”

Note: When playing Deadlock through family sharing, only one person can use the shared access at a time. This means the person who shared the game with you won’t be able to play Deadlock simultaneously on their account.

Deadlock’s Active Player Count Keeps Soaring

Deadlock hit a peak of 145,122 simultaneous players on August 31st, with many still waiting for access. Interestingly, the more you ask for access, the longer you might have to wait. It’s unclear if this delay is a deliberate choice by Valve or just a bug, as the studio hasn’t provided any announcements on the issue. Regardless, the wait time for receiving your access notification increases if you receive multiple game invitations.
