GTA 6 fans have sky-high expectations for the next installment. To meet these, Rockstar should consider reintroducing several iconic features from GTA San Andreas that have shaped the franchise’s history.

GTA 6 needs to be the culmination of Rockstar’s work on this legendary series. It’s crucial to learn from previous games and bring back some of the iconic mechanics that made GTA San Andreas a hit, such as gym workouts, dual-wielding firearms, and an immersive dating system.

Bring Back the Gym

One of the most cherished features in GTA San Andreas was undoubtedly the ability to hit the gym to sculpt CJ’s physique. Depending on the activities, the character could gain strength, endurance, or even pack on some weight if he ate too much.

These workouts had a direct impact on gameplay: more strength for hand-to-hand combat, more endurance for longer runs, etc. While GTA 5 introduced an attribute system for playable characters, it was much more limited than San Andreas. GTA 6 could take advantage of this depth by offering even more customization, and a return to gym mechanics would be a fantastic way to do that.

Bringing Back Dual-Wielding

Another memorable mechanic in GTA San Andreas was the ability to dual-wield firearms. Initially, CJ was not very skilled, but with enough practice, he became a formidable marksman, capable of wielding two pistols simultaneously.

This system added an extra layer of variety to third-person gameplay. Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 has already mastered this concept, so it would make sense for GTA 6 to include this feature. In the reveal trailer, a character was seen dual-wielding weapons, which hints at the return of this mechanic.

Other Mechanics to Revisit

To make GTA 6 even more immersive, Rockstar could also reintroduce the dating system from San Andreas. Although GTA 5 attempted to replicate it, it couldn’t match the depth found in San Andreas. Gang wars, another hallmark of San Andreas, could also make a comeback, providing a stronger narrative and gameplay impact.

Additionally, more intense and varied combat, along with driving and flying schools, would be welcome additions to enrich the gameplay experience. These elements could not only diversify the gameplay but also enhance the overall immersion in the world of GTA 6.
