What is Avalon in Warzone?

Avalon is a fictional area located in the Mediterranean region, within the universe of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Several multiplayer maps, such as Skyline and Stakeout, are set on its islands. Avalon first appeared during the Black Ops 6 beta, where it was featured in the training grounds.

Although there is no official confirmation of Avalon’s arrival in Warzone, a massive leak in August 2024 revealed details about the map. Avalon appears to be composed mainly of islands connected by bridges, favoring aquatic combat as the play zone shrinks.

Expected Release Date for Avalon

According to Insider Gaming, Avalon is expected to arrive in Warzone at the end of 2025 with the integration of Call of Duty 2025. This period could coincide with a release in November or December, a few weeks after the game launch.

However, there is some uncertainty about its release. As was the case with the Ural Mountains map in Cold War, which was initially expected to join Warzone before being repurposed for other modes, Avalon could face a similar fate.

Avalon Teasers in Warzone

The first major hint of Avalon was found on Rebirth Island, where its name is inscribed inside the submarine used for Black Ops 6 challenges. Additionally, Avalon is mentioned on a post-it note visible on a calling card reward.

During the official reveal of Black Ops 6, players also spotted a map labeled Avalon. In the same trailer, a rocket flies over a wide area, and by aligning certain bridges, one can identify that it flies over Avalon, suggesting a much larger map than the initial glimpses.

Avalon Map Leaks in Black Ops 6

In August 2024, an early version of Black Ops 6 was accidentally published in PlayStation’s database, allowing users with jailbroken PS4s to access it. This revealed almost the entire beta of the game, including Avalon. Although the map was still incomplete, it is already fully constructed and offers a glimpse of what players can expect.

The Avalon map seems to be primarily composed of islands, with classic Treyarch points of interest like Outskirts from World at War, WMD and Hazard from Black Ops 1, and Dig from Black Ops 2. This promises a map rich in nostalgia for fans of the franchise.
