The 2024 League of Legends Worlds are just around the corner, and it looks like the devs are cooking up a brand-new meta for the bot lane. Riot Games is gearing up to tweak ADC power in solo lanes with the goal of rebalancing gameplay before the world championship kicks off.

So far, Corki seems to be the most affected by these changes, but how many more champions will be impacted before Worlds? Riot is mainly targeting three runes used by ADCs in solo lanes: Taste of Blood, Cut Down, and Fleet Footwork – runes that allowed several ADCs to dominate the mid lane despite XP and item changes.

As for ranked play, the champion combo we presented earlier this month is still going strong.

Rune and ADC Champion Adjustments for Worlds 2024

ADC champions remain among the most powerful in solo lanes in League of Legends, and Riot wants to end this dominance before the 2024 World Championship. As usual, League’s lead gameplay designer, Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, shared the upcoming changes on X (formerly Twitter).

In patch 14.16, Riot specifically targets the top-performing ADC runes. These changes are starting to show signs of effectiveness, with targeted nerfs on Corki and Lucian. Tristana, once a mid-lane staple, seems to be losing her shine, especially in the regular LCS and LEC seasons, where she was one of the most popular picks.

On the other hand, champions like Azir are starting to make a comeback. Corki, still present, sees his influence wane with these adjustments. Riot also plans to target other bot lane ADCs before the release of patch 14.18, scheduled for August 28, with Ezreal and Ashe being primary targets.

These changes highlight Riot’s efforts to diversify the meta and balance the strengths before the 2024 Worlds. It remains to be seen how these adjustments will affect champion choices during the finals.
