Contrary to our previous report, Rockstar recently offered $7,500 PER AUTHOR to Heaven 17 for using their iconic track “Temptation” in the upcoming GTA 6, but the band turned it down.

The total sum for the band would have been $22,500, but Heaven 17 rejected the offer. Instead, they countered with a proposal for $75,000, hoping for better compensation for the use of their music.

This refusal was brought to light by Martyn Ware, the founding member of the band, who shared the experience on X (formerly Twitter). According to Ware, Rockstar’s offer included a complete buyout of the song, meaning the band would not receive any future royalties, even if GTA 6 generates billions like its predecessor.

The Counter-Offer from Heaven 17 for Their Music Rights in GTA 6

Faced with what they deemed an insufficient offer, Heaven 17 countered with a proposal of $75,000, hoping to convince Rockstar of the value of their track. However, the band did not specify if this new sum was for each member or for the entire group.

Having an artist’s music featured in a globally popular franchise like Grand Theft Auto could offer worldwide exposure, but Heaven 17 chose to decline the offer, valuing their work higher and the potential future royalties more substantial than the initial sum.
