Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement Backwards Compatibility Confirmed!

Rumors are swirling that the Nintendo Switch 2 might be announced this month. The new console, which will be the successor to the hugely popular Switch, is expected to offer backwards compatibility, allowing gamers to continue enjoying their current games.

According to David Gibson, an analyst at MST Financial, Nintendo could unveil the Switch 2 sooner than anticipated. While some reports indicated a release for the next fiscal year (starting from April 2025), Gibson suggests the announcement could happen between September 18 and 26 or in early October.

An imminent Switch 2 announcement?

Part of the speculation comes from the fact that Hosiden, a key manufacturer for Nintendo, has reportedly invested 2 billion yen in production equipment and 1 billion yen in automation, suggesting a possible upcoming release. Gibson still forecasts a March 2025 launch.

Another source, known as Nate the Hate, has also hinted that the Switch 2 will support backwards compatibility, a feature that should delight many Nintendo fans.

This backward compatibility would mean that players could continue to play their current Switch games on the new console, eliminating concerns about losing their game collection.
