Warzone developers have disabled Bunker Busters after the Season 5 Reloaded update due to a duplication glitch that rendered Ranked and Resurgence Supreme modes unplayable. Seems like Activision has its hands full with cheaters lately!
The Bunker Buster is a deadly killstreak that targets players inside buildings and releases toxic gas, causing damage to nearby players. Normally, one use is enough to disrupt a team, but due to this glitch, players could duplicate it indefinitely. It turned Warzone’s Season 5 into an explosive mess. On August 26, via the CODUpdates account, developers announced they had “temporarily disabled Bunker Busters” to investigate the issue.
The glitch allowed any item to be duplicated, giving cheaters unlimited equipment. This isn’t the first duplication glitch Warzone has faced, but using Bunker Busters on the small Rebirth Island map made the problem far worse.
Bunker Busters Make Ranked Matches Unplayable Due to Cheaters
Complaints first surfaced on August 23 and escalated throughout the weekend. By August 26, social media was buzzing with players demanding an immediate fix. A Reddit user, ‘phersper,’ claimed that “ranked mode has become unplayable,” with teams launching “over 50 Bunker Busters per match.”
Another player reported that their “game crashed due to 23 Bunker Busters going off simultaneously” on the map. On Twitter, ‘Solgob’ mentioned getting “taken out by this exploit in two consecutive matches” and seeing “players use around 200 Bunker Busters and UAVs in Warzone.”
While the developers were quick to disable Bunker Busters, cheaters may now turn their attention to other powerful items like UAVs, gas masks, and airstrikes, since their favorite killstreak is off the table.
