Apex Legends players recently uncovered a major issue with Newcastle in Season 22. While the latest season has generated a lot of buzz, with the introduction of the new E-District map and updates to Crypto’s drone, it has also brought some bugs to light.

The new real-time damage bars are particularly controversial for Mirage players, who complain about the visibility of character positions among decoys. But Newcastle isn’t immune to these bugs either. Apex Legends content creator Manuzz highlighted that the Season 22 update has introduced a significant bug with Newcastle’s Swift Shield upgrade. According to him, this enhancement no longer affects the shield speed as intended. “The Swift Shield upgrade is bugged and has no effect on the speed of his tactical,” he wrote on Twitter, demonstrating the issue in action.

Bug with Newcastle’s Shield in Apex Legends Season 22

Many players have taken to social media to express their frustration, hoping for a quick fix from Respawn. “I never noticed this problem because I always opt for the thick shield,” commented one user who was unaware of the bug.

Some believe Newcastle isn’t popular enough to warrant an immediate fix, while others point out that the character is starting to be used at a competitive level, which may expedite the correction. “We’re seeing Predator teams using Newcastle, Crypto, and Rev,” added another player.

Newcastle isn’t the only one facing difficulties this season. Caustic’s pick rate has also dropped at higher levels, prompting calls for additional adjustments.
