What’s New in Apex Legends Season 22: Shockwave
Game modes like Straight Shot Revival and Bot Royale (which replaces orientation matches) offer new and engaging experiences for both newbies and seasoned players.
Weapon Meta Changes: Akimbo Weapons and Light Machine Gun Enhancements
Season 22 introduces the highly-anticipated Akimbo weapons. You can now dual-wield the Hammond P2020 and the Mozambique Shotgun, creating unmatched firepower. Each equipped weapon shares attachments automatically, significantly boosting your combat potential.
Light machine guns (LMGs) also receive significant updates. Instead of merely increasing their damage, Respawn has added a front-facing shield with a generator, inspired by Gibraltar’s passive ability, absorbing up to 40 damage. This shield recharges after a short duration, enhancing the durability of LMG users in combat.
Shotguns and Assault Rifles Improvements
The developers have also reworked shotguns to increase their reliability. The Mastiff and Peacekeeper will lose some pellets, but in turn, the damage per pellet will increase, making each shot more consistent and effective. The Peacekeeper also gets adjustments to its firing pattern to better fit the new meta.
As for assault rifles (AR), the Havoc Rifle will receive a hip-fire nerf, while the Hemlock Burst AR will see its damage reduced from 20 to 19 per shot. This change includes an increase in the time between bursts and a slight reduction in magazine capacities for white and blue levels.
New Ammo Launches and Capacity Adjustments
Capacity adjustments for various ammo types are also on the docket:
- Light Rounds: increased from 60 to 72
- Shotgun Shells: increased to 20
- Energy Ammo: increased to 54
- Light Weapons: magazine capacities are increased for all sizes, including the R-301 Carbine.
These changes aim to improve combat dynamics and foster smoother gameplay by reducing the need for constant reloading.
Improvements for Control Legends
Control Legends, specialists in fortification and zone control, now benefit from Zone Overcharge, a feature providing 25 extra shields when in the zone. This improvement compensates for armor disparities and supports effective strategic positioning.
In addition to the mentioned changes, several quality-of-life improvements are planned. Respawn has made adjustments to movement, especially regarding wall climbing and traversal over teammates. Additionally, enemy health bars will be more visible during combat, and enemy outlines will be better highlighted to enhance action perception.
